What breaks on this particular pair
- Mail.ru requires an external application password created in account security settings; the normal password is refused.
- Mail.ru logins are full addresses, Yandex standard mailboxes use the local part only. This mismatch causes most auth failures.
- Yandex needs IMAP switched on separately under mail client settings, or access stays closed even with a valid password.
- Both services rate-limit. The transfer proceeds folder by folder and cannot be rushed.
