Migrate email from Gmail to Outlook
Migrating Gmail to Outlook trips on two things: Gmail needs an app password rather than your account password, and the All Mail label holds a copy of every message. Handle both before you start, or the transfer doubles in size and arrives duplicated.

What breaks on this particular pair
- Gmail stores labels, not folders — every message also lives in [Gmail]/All Mail. Leave it in and you copy everything twice.
- Your normal account password will be rejected. Turn on 2-step verification, then create a 16-character app password.
- IMAP is off by default: Settings → Forwarding and POP/IMAP → Enable IMAP.
- Gmail serves roughly 2.5 GB per day per mailbox. A 20 GB archive takes about a week — that is Google throttling, not slow tooling.

Do Gmail labels survive the move?
Labels become ordinary folders in Outlook — an IMAP limitation, not ours. A message with three labels lands once, in the folder you pick, provided All Mail is excluded.
