Rackspace Email IMAP settings

Rackspace hosts mail for other people's domains, so the server never carries your own domain name: both directions go to secure.emailsrvr.com. That single fact accounts for most failed setups — the client is pointed at mail.yourcompany.com, which has nothing listening on it.

Migrate a Rackspace Email mailbox

Questions

The short answers

What do I put in the server field?

secure.emailsrvr.com for incoming and outgoing alike: IMAP 993 with SSL, SMTP 465 with SSL.

Is an app password needed?

No, the mailbox password is used directly.

Why does mail.mydomain.com not work?

Because nothing answers there. Rackspace serves every customer domain from its own hosts, and secure.emailsrvr.com is the one to use.

Can I migrate a Rackspace mailbox to Microsoft 365 or Google?

Yes, over IMAP — messages, folders, flags and dates move across, and the Rackspace mailbox is left untouched.

Find out how big your mailbox is. It costs nothing.

Connect two servers, look at the size and decide. Or take the client and keep everything on your side.
